Position Description and Information
Applications are welcomed from persons with a master's degree in (theoretical or applied) informatics. The successful applicant will join a group of researchers from various disciplines working on modeling human infectious diseases, population dynamics, health economics, biostatistics and vaccinology in the framework of a basic research project entitled "Simulation Models for Infectious Disease Processes . The role of the applicant would be to develop user-friendly simulation models of the spread of infectious diseases, and application software for epidemiologists, and to report research methods and results, both orally and written. The applicant may also become involved in other ongoing research projects in the group.
Essential criteria: University degree (M.Sc.) in (theoretical or applied) informatics Very good study results (top 20%) Excellent quantitative skills and excellent working knowledge of standard program languages, such as C++ Interest in research for individual-based (network) models Very good knowledge of English, both oral and written Ability and desire to communicate and collaborate with scientists working in fields outside of informatics
Desirable criteria: Knowledge of and experience with grid-computing Courses taken in mathematical modeling, population dynamics Good knowledge of Dutch or French
We offer An initial 1-year contract, extendable to 4 years after positive evaluation. During the first year, a grant proposal has to be completed.
